Mr Tony Ekirigwe, the Head of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, NYSC Gombe State Office has advised corps members to acquire skills that will enable them to be self employed.

He said the programme is aimed at educating and preparing corps members to be self employed and empowered to be job creators in the society.

Ekirigwe said that corps members were also taught how to make cake, soap, fashion design, laundry service, information technology and auto mobile, among others.

“We want to empower them so that they can start thinking of what is next after the service year; to start their own job and employ others.” he said.

Mr Samuel Abba, a human resource trainer, also called on the corps members to utilise the time of the service year to think of what they would do thereafter.
