Metro Ogun State to Compensate Home Owners

The Ogun Government has set aside N1.1 billion as compensation to people whose properties were affected in the ongoing road construction in the state.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Olalekan Adegbite, made the disclosure on Thursday in Abeokuta during the defence of the 2014 budget proposal of the ministry at the House of Assembly.

He explained that the ministry would remit the money to the bureau of land and survey for payment to the affected people.

According to the commissioner, the main objective of the government in 2014 is to complete the seven ongoing road projects in the state.

According to him, the government would construct additional 350 kilometres of asphalt roads in major towns in the three senatorial districts of the state among others.

Adegbite said that the ministry’s proposed revenue for 2014 was N600.3 million and that the budget of the ministry in 2014 was N22.3 billion out of which N339 million would be spent on recurrent expenditure and N22 billion on capital expenditure.
