Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, yesterday identified campaigns by politicians as one of the major sources of leakages in public finance in Africa and urged leaders and the citizens in the continent to devise means to plug all areas that breed corruption in the electioneering processes.
The minister, who spoke at the TEDxEuston Forum, specifically charged the people to be more concerned about how electioneering campaigns were being funded with a view to identifying the sources of funds and developing mechanisms to ensure that such funds were not being stolen from the public vault.
