State governors in the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday night in Lagos urged the National Assembly to see the realignment going on at the house as a normal thing.

Reading a commuique after holding a meeting, Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo, said the governors wanted the two houses in the assembly to protect the rights and privileges of members to choose parties of their choice.

Okorocha, who is the Chairman, APC Governors Forum, said the forum also wanted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to make adequate preparations for the forthcoming polls in Ekiti and Osun.

He said that the forum was also concerned and unhappy about recent developments in Rivers in relation to the reported cases of police brutality.

He also said that the resignation of the national chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur would not affect the gains of the APC, that none of those who defected to the APC would go back to the PDP, even with Tukur’s exit.

"The reason why they left was not because of Tukur, they left because PDP has not fulfilled the aspirations of the people, " he said
