Politics Ondo Election: After Tinubu, Ambode Hails Governor-Elect, Akeredolu

After the leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu congratulated the Ondo governor-elect, Barrister Rotimi Akeredolu, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has joined suit for emerging victorious at the keenly contested governorship election held on Saturday.

Akeredolu was declared winner of the polls by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), defeating his closest rival, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 244,842 to 150,380 votes, while Mr. Olusola Oke of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) polled 126,889 votes.

Governor Ambode, who was very instrumental to the emergence of Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki was totally absent during the Akeredolu's train in the Ondo race.

But in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruna, Ambode congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari, the APC and the people of Ondo State for the outcome of the election.

The Governor specially congratulated Akeredolu for his hard fought victory and wished him well as he prepares to take the mantle of leadership of the State.
