Osagie Okunbor has been appointed as the new managing director for Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC), operator of the joint venture between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Royal Dutch Shell. according to THISDAY.
Okunbor takes over from Mutiu Sunmonu, who is retiring after 36 years of service.
Okunbor has also been named the Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria, combining the two positions his predecessor also held and becoming the third Nigerian to hold both posts, after Mr. Basil Omiyi and Sunmonu.
He holds a degree of Business Administration from the University of Benin, and is an accomplished professional, who brings over 28 years of industry experience and expertise to the role.
He has worked in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Brunei and currently The Netherlands.
He is set to assume office on March 1, 2015.
