Sports Oscar Pistorius 'might not run again'

Following his sentencing to jail, there are fears that Oscar Pistorius might no longer compete in athletics.

Pistorius was yesterday convicted for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, and was found guilty of culpable homicide.

The 27-year-old will not be allowed to compete in International Paralympic Committee events until 2019.

A psychiatrist Professor Jonathan Scholtz "seriously doubts" that the 'blade runner' might never want to compete again.

Speaking with BBC Radio 5 live: "During the assessment there was almost a bit of relief from his side that he did not have to follow that very active schedule and all that pressure week in and week out.

"He was not one of those guys who the night before a competition could chill out and be all relaxed. He became very anxious. He was put through a lot every time he had to race.

"He had a lot of adversity as well, to fight for his career. That was immense pressure and this was like a little holiday from that and I could see the relief."
