The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomole said yesterday that his government has invited 1,300 Edo state primary school teachers to appear before a verification committee to defend the irregularities in their certificates and age records.

The State Information and Communications Technology unit audited that 789 teachers out of 1,379 obtained their Primary School Leaving Certificates before they were 8 years old.

The Governor said old teachers would be asked to leave the service and those that needed more training will be trained.

He also said that the exercise wasn’t a witch hunt and stressed the important role education played in the future of the nation.
