Following the controversy trailing the Anambra State gover-norship election described as a failed test for the 2015 general polls, the Independent National Electoral Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed worry that insecurity remains a major challenge.INEC said security has now become a lasting issue facing it, stating that, “several security threats now characterise the electoral process, ranging from physical attacks on INEC staff and facilities, se-curity personnel on election duty, as well as attacks on political opponents.

Speaking in a paper titled, “INEC preparation for the 2015 general elections: Prospects and challenges,” deliv-ered at the Alumni Presidential Dinner for Set 35 participants at the alumni association of the National Institute of Strategic Studies, (NIPPS) in Abuja on Monday, INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, stated that “these threats are now exacerbated by insecurity in some parts of the country, making the conduct of elections in those even more dif.cult.”
