Politics OYO: Ajimobi Apprehends 16,532 Ghost Workers

The end has come for ghost workers under the employment of Oyo State as 16, 532 ghost workers have been discovered by the government led by Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

This was disclosed at a press briefing by the Secretary to the State Government, Ismail Olalekan Alli, who said that the salaries of the affected employees will be immediately suspended pending further investigation.

He explained further that the extent of multiple salary payments would be determined while refund and legal action would be pursued, adding that all monies that were credited but not accessed would be recovered.

To give the affected workers the benefit of the doubt, he said that “all the employees concerned should face a further verification panel to be constituted by the Governor with adequate time line‎. For all employees who are found culpable, further disciplinary actions including prosecution would be applied.

The verification team includes the immediate past Commissioner for Health, Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin as chairman and Permanent Secretary (Finance) as Secretary. Other members of the committee include Mrs Tolu Shadipe, a representative each of the consultant and staff union.

In total, Oyo State has 100, 259 workers.

After the forensic computerised data audit, the consultants from the Nigerian Interbank Settlement Systems (NIBSS Plc.) found many instances of inconsistencies, variations and entry details that did not tally.

16, 532 employees out of a total 100, 250 analysed were found to have such issues requiring further clarification.
