The Oyo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised Governor Abiola Ajimobi over the collapse of the iron barricade placed upon the newly constructed Mokola, Ibadan bridge.

"It is a huge shame that barely two months after the commissioning of the N2.9 billion bridge, some parts of the bridge could begin to collapse after small impacts. One wonders what would happen if the motorist had hit the bridge itself,” the party said.

According to Sahara Reporters, PDP Oyo state chapter said the collapse of the barricade in less than two months of its inauguration indicates that the project was substandard and does not justify the huge cost of N2.9 billion the state government expended on it.

The Oyo state government is accusing opposition parties of being responsible for the destruction and alleged that the truck that ran into the barricade was part of the plan by the opposition which had initially condemned the barricade.

A statement signed by the party's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kehinde Salawu, Thursday, it sympathised with commuters who experienced hard times during the barricade collapse

“We sympathize with the thousands of people caught in the traffic gridlock which greeted the collapse of Ajimobi’s barricade on the Mokola Bridge” the statement read.

This is expected. I expect the opposition party to bicker about anything, ANYTHING bad that happens during it's rival's tenure whereas it would maybe even do less when it secures power.
.....and vice versa. It's an African thingy.:D:D:D
