The Paediatric Association of Nigeria(PAN) has inclined lawmakers to stick by the constitutional policy of 18 years for marriage consent.

The association laid emphasis on the age of maturity being 18, because an individual is allowed to vote, permitted to drive and own bank account at that age.

It further stated the medical consequences of child marriage as leading to Vesico-Vaginal Fistula, low birth weight, and birth asphyxia among others which should serve as a discouragement to anyone that wants to approve child marriage.
