The Peoples Democratic Party,PDP and the Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi are once more involved in a battle of words and wits.

VANGUARD reported that, the PDP is accusing Fayemi of withholding the July salaries of state workers as punishment for his defeat in the last gubernatorial election in the state.

A statement issued by Ekiti PDP Publicity Secretary, Pastor Kola Oluwawole read, "Our candidate, Mr. Ayo Fayose, defeated Fayemi squarely in the election by winning in all the 16 local governments and all segments of the society, including civil servants rejected Fayemi and the APC, at the poll. Fayemi has decided to punish those he perceived did not vote for him in the election, among whom were local government workers and teachers.

"Fayemi should let the people of the state know what is delaying the payment of the salaries of these people. He had money to pay his political appointees and even sent money to his illegally-created local council development areas. Fayemi should pay these workers without further delay.

"This governor should explain to Ekiti people what he is doing with the allocations that have come to Ekiti State from the Federal Government since June for them to know why the payment of workers’ salaries has become a taboo to the government that claims to be people friendly.

However, the state government has blamed the PDP for the delay in salary remittance claiming that the PDP has advised banks not to work with the Ekiti state government again.
