The Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday sacked the Peoples Democratic Party's State Working Committee (SWC) loyal to the state governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.

Fayose emerged chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, last week but the recent development in his home state cast shadows on how successful he would be in influencing decisions of the party.

The sacked faction was led by Mr Gboyega Oguntuase.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo ruled that the faction led by Mr. Williams Ajayi, said to be loyal to the senator representing Ogun-East, Buruji Kashamu, remained the authentic chairman of the party in the state.

Buruji is loyal to Senator Ali Modu Sheriff’s faction of the PDP while Fayose belongs to the Senator Ahmed Makarfi faction.

Ajayi had in a suit number FCH/AD/CS/21/2015, filed on May 16, 2016, urged the court to recognize his faction of the PDP in the congresses conducted in all the 177 wards, 16 local governments and at the state level on April 30 and 4th and 5th May, 2016, respectively.

The plaintiff, who urged the court to pronounce him as the authentic chairman of the party, also sought for an order declaring the Oguntuase’s faction illegal.
