President Goodluck Jonathan late Sunday, met with governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with an appeal to them to sheathe their swords for the purpose of party unity.

The meeting was held at a conference hall of the First Lady wing and had two-third of the PDP governors in attendance.

They include; Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta), Ibrahim Shema (Katsina), Murktar Ramalan Yero (Kaduna), Garba Umar (Taraba Acting Governor), Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (Kano), Isa Yuguda (Bauchi), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Idris Wada (Kogi), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Jonah Jang (Plateau), Seidu Dakingari (Kebbi), Theodore Orji (Abia), and Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe).

According to Daily Posts, Jonathan, it was gathered appealed to the governors to stop embarrassing the party openly, saying whatever grouse they may have can always be discussed in private gatherings.

However, the “new” PDP has tabled their conditions for peace. They are; the president’s withdrawal from the 2015 election, as well as a free and fair convention.

It is however unclear if the conditions would be met, as Jonathan’s loyalist have told him not to give in to any pressure by those they regard as being rebellious.
