The All Progressive Congress has said the faction within the ruling People’s Democratic Party was indicates that Nigeria is on the verge of redemption.
According to Saturday Punch, the Interim National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, however, made this statement to counter claims that a presidential aide that the seven aggrieved PDP governors were APC moles.
He said, “While we cannot be held responsible for the implosion in the PDP as it was an accident waiting to happen, we are not unhappy that finally by this implosion, Nigeria is on the path of redemption.
The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak, had earlier in the week said the aggrieved governors were moles of the opposition.
Lai said, “As to whether the seven dissenting governors are ACN moles, our position is that we shall welcome them with open arms into the APC.
“If President Jonathan and the PDP cannot manage success, we will demonstrate to them and Nigerians how we can optimise the experience and competence of these dissenting PDP governors for the benefit of Nigerians.
“The truth of the matter is that PDP is living in self -denial. In a few months time, PDP will be history. And by the way, there are today not just seven dissenting governors.
“The number of dissenting governors is probably today more than those with Bamanga Tukur.
