A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship aspirant in Taraba, Chief David Kente, has denied stepping down for other aspirants.
Kente told journalists in Jalingo on Saturday that he had not withdrawn from the race.
"I want to first of all debunk the rumour making the rounds that I have withdrawn from the race. I am fully in the race and I have no intention of stepping down for anybody.
"You know that I am fully on ground in the state so why then should I withdraw for others," he asked.
Kente, a former director of finance at the National Assembly, urged the members of the party to support free and fair congresses to elect the right delegates for the primaries.
He appealed to the PDP to provide a level playing field for all the aspirants to ensure credible primaries.
Kente is to contest the Nov. 29 primary election against Acting Gov. Garba Umar, the former Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Darius Ishaku, Mr John Musa and Mr Obida Bitrus.
