Some members of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Michika Local Government Area, Adamawa on Saturday protested what they described as the imposition of party chairman for the area on them.

The spokesman of the group, Alhaji Sabo Garta said in a protest letter he delivered to the state party secretariat in Yola
that the nomination and the swearing-in of Mr Ezekiel Zira as the party chairman of Michika Local Government Area by the party leadership were unacceptable to them.

"As far as we know, Daniel Tumba has the full mandate and full support of the people of Michika and should be sworn in as the authentic party chairman in Michika Local Government Area.

"We vehemently declare the fictitious swearing in of Ezekiel Zira as party chairman of Michika Local Government null and void or just an empty threat," Garta said.

Responding, Adamawa state PDP chairman, Chief Joel Madaki, lauded the protesters for their peaceful conduct and assured them that their complaint would be looked into.

Madaki said that PDP believed in internal democracy and would not hesitate in treating genuine complaints emanating from members.
