Members of the PDP Youths Alliance in Kogi have applauded the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.

In a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting on Sunday in Lokoja, the goup said that youths across the six geo-political zones constituted the major beneficiaries of government programmes.

The group acknowledged the efforts of government in the area of job creation, through which jobs had been created for some of them.

The Coordinator of the group, Mr Charles Enefola, cited the reforms in agriculture, transportation, small and medium scale enterprises and power sub-sectors of the economy as potential areas of job creation.

He appealed to the president to go a step further by introducing social security and empowerment schemes to alleviate the suffering of unemployed youths, and the aged in the society, pointing out that this would go a long way to reducing crime and poverty level among Nigerians.

He reaffirmed the group’s confidence in Jonathan’s administration to be able to lead the country to the promised land and pledged its support to his administration.

The group also commended Gov. Idris Wada for providing the people with purposeful leadership and for creating jobs for over 2,000 of its members through the youth empowerment programme.

The group called for the completion of the skill acquisition development centre currently under construction at the campus of Kogi State Polytechnic in Lokoja adding that when completed, it would help to reduce the unemployment level among the people.

The group called on the state government to focus more attention on the development of tourism, sports, agriculture and solid mineral deposits to create wealth and jobs for the citizens.

They expressed their support for the national leadership of the party led by Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and the national executive council of the alliance under Dr Charles Omini. (NAN)
