Arsenal have moved back to the top of the English Premier League following a 1-2 away victory at Aston Villa.

Arsene Wenger's team were the dominant side, seeing a larger percentage of the ball than their hosts who struggled to trouble Arsenal's rear guard.

Having seen both Chelsea and Manchester City secure wins over the weekend, which saw them temporarily go top of the league over the weekend, Arsenal needed to respond to sustain their title challenge.

Jack Wilshere opened the scores for Arsenal in the 34th minute, finishing up a cut back by Nacho Monreal as they went in front.

Almost immediately, the Englishman played in a pass to Olivier Giroud to finish off and send the Gunners two goals up.

After the break,Arsenal had other opportunities to nick in goals but ended up not taking those chances.

However Belgian striker Christain Benteke pulled a goal back for Villa through Lowton's cross, setting up nervous last 15 mins for Arsenal.

It was the first goal Benteke will be scoring since last September, after experiencing drought in front of goal.

But Arsenal held on tenaciously and secured the win that saw them climb back on the table, ahead of Manchester City and Chelsea.
