Sports Premier League results: Man City and Chelsea secure wins, Arsenal fumbles to a draw

Manchester City and Chelsea all secured wins today and strengthened their positions in the English Premier League table, but it was a different tale for Arsenal who dropped points at the Emirates.

Sergio Aguero was the star of the day as he single-handedly powered Manchester City to a resounding 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspurs at the Etihad Stadium.

The Argentine scored all four goals for City and could even afford the luxury of missing a penalty in a totally one-sided game for the defending champions.

However the turning point of the game came in the second half when Roberto Soldado had a chance of levelling Spurs at 2-2, but he played a rather tame penalty that Joe Hart saved.

Overall, City continued their dominance over Spurs largely thanks to Aguero who had 11 shots on goal in the game.

Meanwhile Chelsea held off a late challenge from Crystal Palace as they secured a 2-1 victory to continue with their unbeaten run in the Premier League this season.

Oscar put Chelsea in front at Selhurst park after just six minutes and Cesc Fabregas doubled the lead in the 51st minute.

A stoppage time goal from Fraizer Campbell set up a nervy ending, but Chelsea held on nicely to secure all three points.

In contrast to Chelsea, Arsenal's woes continued after they dropped points to settle for a 2-2 draw with Hull City at the Emirates.

With most first team players out with an injury for Arsenal, the Gunners lacked the killer instinct to see off a resolute Hull team.

Alexis Sanchez put Arsenal in front but Mohamed Diame scored a beautiful dink to level for the visitors.

Hernandez headed the visitors in front in the second half, before Arsenal found an equaliser through Danny Welbeck.

With Manchester United and Liverpool not in action in Saturday, Arsenal missed an opportunity to move into the top four positions.
