Nigeria - A Kano mosque was on Friday thrown into pandemonium when an alleged terrorist forced himself inside while Muslim faithful were observing the Juma’at prayer.
The incident happened at the Ahalul Sunna mosque, opposite Rijiyar Zaki mosque, along New Site road of the Bayero University, Kano.
Daily Post said people started scampering for safety at the peak of the sermon as a mad man attempted to stay close to him but was stopped.
“I sustained injuries on my legs and shoulders because I jumped over the wall of the mosque for my life," Umar Farouk Dandawaki, who partook in the stampede said.
“The suspect, who looked like a mad man attempted to be close to the Imam but was stopped by the mosque security.”
Farouk also stated that the timely intervention of the policemen deployed to the mosque helped to stop the tension from degenerating.
The suspect was said to have been whisked away by the policemen for interrogation.
