PUNCH reports that Buhari, who spoke in English and Hausa languages handed down the warning during the breaking of Ramadan fast, Iftar, he organised for some categories of people inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said, “Whoever deter us from fighting corruption will suffer the consequences. It is unfortunate that the elite are self-centred and they only think about themselves.

“Be assured that we care about you at all times. This government is concerned about your welfare and we will work hard to improve it,” Buhari told his guests that included the physically challenged, the Internally Displaced Persons, taxi drivers, commercial motorcycle riders, artisans such as butchers, hairdressers, barbers, tailors, members of the Buhari Support Organisation, President’s neighbours in Lobito Crescent, and junior workers in the headquarters of the All Progressives Congress.

Not sure people oppose the anti-corruption fight. The problem is that other areas of governance also need attention. The headline for the next four years cannot just be anti-corruption and I am sure the president knows no one will shed any tears for politicians etc that are locked up. But for goodness sake please focus on governing the country.

The president is just confirming what it is. This has been the order of the day since the Inception of his administration. Infact, one of the basis and motive of the APC-led team since gaining power in 2015.

But one thing is certain, nothing last forever Mr. President.

The headline has always been and will always be anti-corruption. He rode on the waves of anti-corruption and he won. In my opinion, he doesn't care about other sectors of the economy. No wonder he was reported to have even opposed the economic policies of the CBN governor.

We are stuck with him. We can't complain

Yes O! Not corruption alone but corruption is like thorns that must be weeded out first otherwise it will choke the yams or anything else that can be planted on this farm. So Olóríoko must pursue corruption with gusto.

Unfortunately running a country is a little more complicated. Weeds always grow and I do not see any signs of a lasting legacy right now. Maybe given time this will be revealed but not sure the crusade is yielding anything.

What I see is a country close to economic and other social collapse. This needs to be addressed. The country is in desperate need of a unifying force!
