Politics President Buhari Welcomes Freed 21 Chibok Girls

The presidency has said that the names of the released girls would be release to the public soon.

President Buhari shortly before taking off to Germany for his official visit welcome the release of the girls but cautioned Nigerians to be mindful of the fact that more than 30,000 fellow citizens were killed via terrorism.

Garba Shehu, senior aide to President Buhari said: "The Director-General, Malam LAWAL Daura has briefed the President H.E MUHAMMADU Buhari.

"The release of the girls, in a limited number is the outcome of negotiations between the administration and the Boko Haram terrorists", he said on his twitter timeline.

"Malam LAWAL wants the girls to have some rest, with all of them very tired coming out of the process before he hands them over to the Vice president.

A senior government official in Nigeria has told the BBC that 21 of the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram militants are currently with security services in Maiduguri, Borno state capital.

“It is understood the girls are being held by the security services in the north-eastern city of Maiduguri”, BBC reported.
