Politics President Jonathan Leaves for AU Summit in Addis Ababa

Today, President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria will leave Abuja to attend the 22nd summit of the African Union (AU) heads of state and government which starts in Addis Ababa tomorrow.

According to a statement issued by Presidential Spokesperson, Reuben Abati, the AU has declared 2014 as the year of agriculture and food security in Africa, the theme of the summit is "Transforming Africa’s Agriculture: Harnessing Opportunities for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development".

President Jonathan and other participating heads of state and government will formally launch the Year of Agriculture and Food Security in Africa which coincides with the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Programme.

The President's entourage include, Justice Minister Mohammed Adoke, Agriculture Minister Akinwunmi Adesina, Water Resources Minister Sarah Ochekpe, Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, Honourable Garba Shehu Nicholas, Supervising Minister of Environment Darius Ishaku and Supervising Minister of Foreign Affairs Prof. Viola Onwuliri.
