Mr Olumuyiwa Ige, Osun Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development said the official charge for the issuance of Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) by the state had been slashed.

Ige spoke on Thursday in Oshogbo during a courtesy visit by members of the Nigeria Institution of Surveyors (NIS).

``The issuance of C of O in the state is now N30, 000 against the initial N100, 000.00 charged for a piece of land measured 15 by 30metres,’’ he said.

Ige said certificates of occupancy would henceforth be issued to applicants without delay after due process had been followed.

The commissioner assured that surveyors and architects in the state would continue to have opportunities to operate without hindrance.

Ige said that the state government had resolved to end the activities of quacks in the state.

``This is to ensure that only qualified builders operate according to laid down standards in order to guard against building collapse that can lead to loss of lives and property,’’ he said.

Ige said the Oranmiyan New Town had been opened and the work at the airport was in top gear.

Mr Tunde Ogunbadewa, the leader of the NIS team, commended the state government for innovations introduced into the documentation of land matters.

Ogunbadewa pledged that the Institute of Surveyors would uphold ethical practice by its registered members in the discharge of their duties.
