THE Federal Polytechnic, Bida, has suspended a lecturer in the Department of Public Administration for allegedly raping an ND1 student in the department.
The lecturer PUNCH gathered was caught in the act.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Police Command, Bala Elkana, confirmed the incident, adding that the culprit would remain in police custody pending the completion of investigation.
Elkana said the victim had been receiving treatment at the school medical centre.
Also, the Public Relations Officer of the polytechnic, Alhaji Hussaini Enagi, disclosed to PUNCH correspondent that the official involved was a senior employee of the institution and he had been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation by the disciplinary committee.
He said that the lecturer had also been placed on half salary.
