Metro Rescued Chibok Girls Are Now Prisoners Of Nigerian Govt [NYT]

An Opinion piece written by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani for the New York Times claims that the Chibok schoolgirls who were rescued from Boko Haram terrorists are still under bondage.



''The girls now seem to have exchanged one form of captivity for another,'' the piece reads. Other than occasional visits, the girls have been denied contact with their families. The Nigerian government has moved the girls into safe houses and is keeping a close watch on them. Most of the Chibok parents have also not seen their girls since Christmas.

The Government is worried that Boko haram may make moves to recapture the rescued girls. A top politician who spoke to the author of the opinion piece anonymously said, recapturing the girls will “be like winning the World Cup” for Boko Haram.

Hmmmm... Foreign journos Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani should have found out where exactly the girls are... Some are in US, and have not seen parent in a while.

I think there is a process of rehabilitation, we should allow government to do that, or else, we may have them influencing their peers the Boko Haram way.
