In an apparent response to the statement credited to the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, on Wednesday over insecurity, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has enjoined the governor to resign having failed in his oath of allegiance to protect lives and property of people as the chief security officer in the state.

The call was coming on the heels of an open acknowledgment by Governor Amaechi of rising rate of crimes and insecurity in the state while performing the ground breaking ceremony of the foundation stone laying of the new secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council.

PDP in a statement from the office of the State Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah, commended Governor Amaechi for the confession, adding that he should complement his “inability” to discharge his responsibility by turning in his resignation letter.
