Vice President Namadi Sambo through a statement on Monday in Abuja expressed shock and sadness over the assassination of a Zaria-based Islamic scholar, Sheik Auwal Albani, his wife and son who were shot by unknown assassins on Saturday night in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Sambo described the killings as barbaric and the lack of regard for sanctity of human life.
"The vice president condemns in strongest terms, these senseless killings of innocent lives by mindless assassins who have no regard for the sanctity of human life.
"Sambo commiserates with the family of the deceased over this sorrowful and great loss,’’ the statement quoted him as saying.
The vice president implored members of the family of the deceased, his students and the entire community to have the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the souls of the departed Aljannat firdaus.
