Business Sarah Alade: CBN Deputy Governor Retires After 23 Years Of Service

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Deputy Governor, Economic Policy, Dr. Sarah Alade, has retired after 23 years of services.

Dr. Alade is retiring after spending two terms as the deputy governor as required by law.

At a dinner in her honour by the Economic Policy Directorate of the CBN in Abuja, the CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, said Dr Alade was leaving at a time when the ovation was loudest.

DailyTrust Newspaper quoted Mr. Emefiele saying he enjoyed a robust working relationship with her even as he thanked her for all the support she rendered him while still in service adding that the CBN would also leverage on her wise counsel even in retirement.

“She did so well and I had excellent relationship working with her”, he said.

Dr. Alade was appointed Deputy Governor, Economic Policy, on 26th March, 2007. At some point, she acted as the CBN governor when the erstwhile CBN governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was removed by the then President, Goodluck Jonathan.
