School Violence on the Rise in Osun State; Teacher Axed by Students

Osun state is currently experiencing a fresh wave of violence in its schools, weeks after the Principal of Baptist High School, Ejigbo in Osun State was attacked by Muslim fundamentalists in the town, a teacher in Osogbo Grammar School; Mr. A. Olamoyegun, has been axed on the head by students of Technical College, Osogbo.

The axing of the teacher led to a free for all fight between students and teachers of Osogbo Grammar School and the attackers who were students of Technical College, Osogbo. Dangerous weapons such as broken bottles, clubs, and cutlasses were used by both sides during the fight, it took the intervention of the Nigeria Police force to stop the fight from spreading into the community.

Mr. A. Olamoyegun, the teacher who got axed is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, students of St. Marks Anglican High School, Testing Ground area in Osogbo, stabbed and macheted themselves at the premises of the school, when a student of school one and that of school four quarreled over a minor matter.
