Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan gave assurances Thursday to the international community about the safety of all participants at the World Economic Forum on Africa, to be held next month in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.

Speaking at an audience with the new Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Gu Xiaojie, who presented his credentials to the presidential palace, President Jonathan maintained that the security problems that the country is facing would not have adverse effects on the safety of participants in the forum.

The President welcomed the confirmation by China that its delegation to the Forum, bringing together regional and global leaders to discuss innovative structural reforms and investments that can sustain the current growth trajectory of the continent and create jobs, would be led by Premier Li Keqiang .
