The Senate has summoned the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali (retd).

The upper chamber on Thursday asked him to appear in Customs uniform unfailingly on Wednesday.

Recall that the Customs boss had told the Senate Committee on Customs and Excise Duties in February that tradition does not permit him to wear paramilitary uniform as a retired Colonel.

Members of the Senate are pushing for drastic action against the NCS and its Director General over the refusal to suspend action on the proposed clamp down on vehicles without duty payment, as ordered by the legislature.

Part of the actions proposed by the senator is to summon Ali to appear before all the lawmakers in the chamber in Customs uniform, which the NSC boss had refused to wear.
