Senate President, David Mark, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary Paul Mumeh in Abuja, has condemned the recent bombing in Abuja and pleaded with the perpetrators to sheathe their swords

He said that in spite of peaceful entreaties, the killings and destruction of property had continued.

He restated his appeal that rather than taking laws into their hands, Nigerians disenchanted with the system, for whatever reason, should bring their grievances to the attention of government.

"Honestly, this is not our way of life. We are a people who value life. We cherish one another.

"This new trend of mass murder is alien to us. We must stand up against this and make Nigeria safe and better again.

"There are more than enough channels for anybody or group of persons to seek redress, including the law courts.

"Certainly, resorting to killing, violence or destruction of property is not one of them,” Mark said.

The senate president also appealed to security operatives not to be deterred by the development but be strengthened to face the challenges of protecting lives and property.

He further enjoined Nigerians to be security conscious at all times, adding that security was no longer the sole mandate of the uniform men and women alone.
