The senate on Thursday confirmed the appointment of 45 out of 47 non-career ambassadors nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The upper chamber of the national assembly rejected two of the nominees – Sylvanus Nsofor (Imo) and Jacob Daudu (Ondo).

While voting on the confirmation of the nominees, Monsurat ‎Sunmonu, chairperson of the committee, explained that ‎Nsofor did not perform well at the screening exercise.

Nsofor, a retried judge, is 82 years old. He failed to recite the national anthem when he appeared before the lawmakers.
