Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna central senatorial district has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government plans to sell off key national assets to fund 2018 to 2020 budgets.

Director General, Budget Office, Mr. Ben Akabueze, disclosed on Monday in Abuja at a public hearing organised by the House of Representatives joint committees on finance, appropriation, loans, debts and aids and legislative budget and research on the 2018-2020 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) said the government has concluded plans to sell key national assets in a bid to generate sufficient revenue to finance Nigeria’s annual budgets.

But the Comrade senator in a tweet on Tuesday night said he will stand against the proposal on the floor of the Senate.

“The proposal to sell off the National Theatre and Tafawa Balewa Square in order to finance the 2018 budget is unacceptable.

“These are our national monuments and priceless edifices of our history.

“I will stand against it in the floor of the senate.”
