Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, Mr. Nuhu Yakubu, Commissioner for Operations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said the commission would issue permanent voter card for the 2015 elections to guard against the challenges that trailed previous elections in Nigeria.
"The commission has almost completed the production of permanent voter card," he said.
``The permanent voter card is a smart card; it is similar to a credit card which has a chip imbedded in it.
``The chip captures all one’s biometrics and data like finger print, photograph, address, and photograph as well as telephone number, among others.
``It transmits signal. That is the kind of card that the commission is going to use during 2015 elections,” he said.
Yakubu said the commission was determined to take necessary measures that would ensure that 2015 general elections were properly conducted.
