The world Smartphone market is a very tough market to compete in, especially for relatively unknown Smartphone manufacturing companies. The war gets tougher each year with the major players looking for ways to outdo each other so as to grab the lion-share of the Smartphone market. Major global players like Samsung, Apple, blackberry, LG, Sony, have continuously introduced amazing features on their smartphones in a bid to grab the attention of customers and keep them baited. Apple Inc. and LG mobile are really turning up the heat on their competition, with Apple clearly dominating the Smartphone global market in terms of sales and market share size.

LG mobile is a global player when it comes to the production of smartphones, but to a lesser extent especially when compare with Apple Inc. LG mobile isn’t resting on its oars and has been looking for ways to usurp Apple and other competitors from their cozy positions in the Smartphone kingdom, with Apple sitting on the throne. Apple, on the other hand, isn’t resting on its oars. With threats coming from innovative competitors, Apple has realized that for them to remain competitive and to consolidate their leadership position, they must remain innovative. We shall compare Apple’s current flagship Smartphone, the iPhone 6, with LG’s G3 to see who is king under the following subheadings.

Design

Apple has a knack for producing smartphones with amazing designs and quality. They pay so much attention to detail and perhaps, that could be one of the reasons why global customers generally love to patronize their smartphones. The iPhone 6 is slimmer, sleeker, especially when compared with its predecessors. All the sharp edges seen in Apple’s previous smartphones are gone, with the current iPhone 6 having well rounded corners. Their premium aluminum build is ever present, and the only drawback in the iPhone 6’s design is its slightly protruding camera.

On the other hand, the LG G3 comes in a plastic build, but it’s by no means cheap. Their plastic exteriors aren’t coated with gloss and this helps to keep away those annoying, greasy finger prints. In terms of Size, the iPhone 6 measures 0.27-inches (6.9mm) while the LG G3 measures 0.35-inch (8.9mm). A slimmer build doesn’t necessarily mean better quality; both are extremely portable and compact.

Winner: iPhone 6

Display

The display on the average Smartphone is a pivotal factor in determining its quality. The iPhone 6 features a resolution of 750 X 1334 pixels and a 4.7 inch display while the LG G3 comes with a bigger resolution of 1440 x 2560 Quad HD and a display of 5.5inches. LG G3 has a pixel density of 538 ppi while iPhone 6 has 326ppi. The display statistics simply shows that the LG G3’s display is sharper and gives out more details. However, Apple’s iPhone 6 outperforms LG G3 especially when used outdoors because it has a brighter display, which is perfect for outdoor activities.

Winner: LG G3

Interface and Functionality

The LG G3 Smartphone runs on the latest Android 4.4 kitkat OS while iPhone 6 runs on the latest iOS operating system. The LG G3 OS also features a customized Optimus user interface in its OS, designed to enhance its user’s experience. In terms of operation, both phone’s operating systems allow them execute similar functions. iPhones are a bit less complicated than Android smartphones and generally have more advance apps. One thing going against iOS is its sharing ability; their phones do not possess the ability to hard share resources with other devices easily.

Process

The iPhone 6 has an amazing speed because it runs apps effortlessly and made switching between apps, seamless when tested by gsmarena engineers. On the other hand, LG’s G3 wasn’t as fast and as fluid as the iPhone 6, despite its bigger 2.5GHz clocking speed. The iPhone 6 is powered by a dual-core Cyclone CPU chipset that clocks 1.4 GHz, while the G3 is powered by a Snapdragon 801 chipset that clocks 2.5GHz with a krait 400 CPU. However, many are of the opinion that Apple may actually be hiding the actual clocking speed of its smartphones in other to fool its competitors.

Winner: iPhone 6

Memory

The Size of RAM on the G3 is massive, 3GB to be precise, while that of the iPhone 6 is 1GB, but then - both phones can’t really be compared in terms of processes. The fact the G3 posses a bigger RAM doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s better than the iPhone 6. Both phones follow different processes while multitasking. The G3 would definitely be better than another android phone with a 1GB RAM, because there is a basis of comparison and the internal processes are pretty-much the same. The iPhone 6 comes in 16GB, 64 and 128GB variants, while the LG G3 comes in 32GB version but allows for external microSD support.

Winner: LG G3

Camera

The iPhone 6 features an 8-MP iSight camera that’s equipped with dual tone LED flash while the G3 comes along with a 13-MP camera that features optical image stabilization dual-tone LED flash. The iPhone6 camera delivers sharp, crisps images and activates faster than LG G3’s camera. However the LG G3’s Camera does a better job in image quality and its 2.2-MP front camera is great for taking selfies. On the other hand, the iPhone 6’s 1.3MP front camera isn’t any different from the previous iPhones, which are generally not up to scratch.

Winner: LG G3

In conclusion, the iPhone 6 and LG G3 are great smartphones and will impress many people with their amazing quality and functionality. For buyers looking for smaphones with extremely fast response and fluidly interface, the iPhone 6 is your best bet. For lovers of video media files and camera functionality, LG G3 has the edge in this regard. On the overall performance and assessment of these great smartphones, it’s a tough decision to make. I just have to crown LG G3 as the king in this keenly contested Smart War.
