Diego Costa, Juan Mata and Fernando Torres surprisingly were omitted from Spain's provisional squad for the Euro 2016 football tournament.

Bayern Munich defender Javi Martinez and Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla are other notable omissions by coach Del Bosque.

Spain are in Group D, along with Croatia, Czech Republic and Turkey. The tournament starts on June 10, 2016.
