Africa- Talks between the Sudanese Government and the rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Movement -North (SPLM-N) will resume in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on Thursday, according to Chief Government Negotiator, Ibrahim Ghandour.

The official Radio Omdurman on Wednesday quoted, Ghandour as saying the invitation to the negotiation was extended by African Union's Chief Mediator, Thabo Mbeki, who is currently visiting Khartoum.

Ghandour said President Omar Al-Bashir on Tuesday met with Mbeki, head of the African Union High-level Implementation Panel (AUHIP), and asked him to speed up the pace of negotiation by confining it only to the two South Kordufan and Blue Nile regions.

The talks were earlier suspended due to the insistence by the SPLM-N delegation that the negotiation must be a platform for resolving all problems of the Sudan, not only of the two regions.
