Politics Sudanese Ambassador to Nigeria Dies in Abuja

Dr. Tagelsir Ali, Sudanese Ambassador to Nigeria, died in the country's embassy on Friday in Abuja.

This was announced by Mr. Mohammed Abdulrahman, Media adviser to the embassy, while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria.

Mr. Ali, 66, passed on at the National Hospital Abuja. It is said that he died from complications arising after he was found to have malaria.

His remains will be taken by 5pm by Presidential jet to Sudan fr burial.

“He was 66 years old. He loved working in Nigeria and had zeal to develop the bilateral relationship between Sudan and Nigeria and was able to stretch himself very well,” Abdulrahman said. He also noted that several visitors had visited the embassy since the diplomat's death was announced, and that a condolence register was opened for Mr. Ali at the embassy.

Ali was posted to Nigeria in February, 2012.
