Sports Super Eagles: Stephen Keshi's position uncertain

According to a report on Vanguard Sports, the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) officials are content with Stephen Keshi managing the Super Eagles at the moment on a match-by-match basis.

Keshi is yet to be offered a substantive contract by the NFF since after the 2014 World Cup,and was only drafted back temporarily for the last two 2015 Nations Cup qualifiers on the insistence of the Sports minister,Tamuno Danagogo.

The NFF are expected to hold their elections on September 30,only until then will Keshi's position be truly ascertained.

The new board will now decide if they want to retain the services of Keshi or lay him off for another manager to come in.

“For now, that is the much management can do” an official of the NFF said on why Keshi has not been offered a full contract.

“Management cannot go ahead and employ the coach because it is not known whether the new board would want him or not,” he added.

However, considering the short time available to hire a coach, the new NFF executives could stick with Keshi to see out the qualifiers next month and afterwards make a permanent decision on his position.
