Former Super Eagles captain,Kanu Nwankwo has said that Nigeria intends to win the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Kanu is optimistic that the Super Eagles would scale the qualification hurdles and go on to participate at the tournament.
Nigeria will on September 7 in Calabar host Malawi,hoping to get at least a point that will see them through to the last phase of qualifiers for the World Cup.
The former Inter Milan and Arsenal forward added that the Super Eagles team is ready for the game against the Malawians.
“We are definitely going to the World Cup next year, and we want to win the Cup for Africa,” Kanu told Goal.com
“About the Malawi match – we are ready for it and we will do our best,” he added.
Kanu also added that the team has a good crop of players,who could take Nigeria to the desired heights and also praised the impact of coach Stephen Keshi in the side.
“We have a good squad that is competent enough to take us to the World Cup and make us shine on the world map.”
“When he (Keshi)came in to the squad many people were very negative about him but he has proved that he is the best coach we ever had. He is a great guy and what is important is that he knows what he is doing with the players, as he is a former player as well.”
