Two residents of Kaduna were reportedly killed following injuries sustained in an accident involving the convoy of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal. But the office of the speaker has denied the report, saying that the convoy only stopped to rescue victims of an accident.

Tambuwal attended activities marking the 50th anniversary of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI in Kaduna. According to an eyewitness account, the incident occurred at about 10.45 am when the speaker left the Deluxe Suites on Ali Akilu Road during which the lead vehicle in the convoy entered the ever busy dual carriageway in the city centre without braking.

According to one of the eyewitnesses, the driver of a commercial bus with Kano plate registration number, XA 863 FGE, was forced to stop abruptly, and in the confusion that ensued, a Toyota Hiace with registration number, XA 657 PAK, rammed into a fence, killing two passengers sitting at the front of the vehicle.
