The Senate, yesterday explained that Senator Hope Uzodinma’s fact-finding mission to Taraba State was an assignment by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the behest of the national chairman and not a national mission.

According to Osun Defenders, a statement signed by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, chairman, Senate Committee on Information, Media and Public Affairs, said that Senator Uzodinma was on the PDP assignment and not senate mission as speculated.

The statement said, “For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Uzodinma and his committee are on a mission to the state at the instance of the PDP and not the Senate. As a member of the party’s board of trustees, the national chairman mandated him alongside other committee members chosen by the party to find solution to the Taraba State political crisis that was occasioned by the unfortunate health challenge of Governor Danbaba Suntai”.

“It is therefore erroneous to misinterpret the committee as a Senate committee set up to intervene in the Taraba crisis. It is not the Senate”.
