Sports Ten Things You Don't Know About Emmanuel Emenike

West Ham United completed the signing of Nigeria's Emmanuel Emenike on loan in one of late transfer drama's and compiled these facts about their new recruit.

Emmanuel was born in Otuocha, Nigeria on 10 May 1987 and began his career in his homeland with Delta Force.

- His professional career took off when he moved to South Africa in 2008, first playing for MP Black Aces and then Cape Town FC.

After serving his apprenticeship in Africa, a first taste of European football followed when Karabukspor took him to Turkey.

A highly productive 2009/10 campaign saw him being named the best foreign player in the Turkish 1.Lig, as he helped Karabukspor win promotion to the top flight.

He also notched on his Super Lig debut, going on to total 14 goals in 23 appearances that campaign.

Next stop for Emenike was Russia and Spartak Moscow, where the 5’11 striker spent two years, scoring 24 goals in 51 appearances.

His continued prolific scoring rate took him back to Turkey, with Fenerbahce splashing out a reported £10.2m to secure his signature in August 2013.

He tallied 12 goals in his debut season, but was on the move again last summer when he joined Abu Dhabi club Al Ain on loan.

Internationally, Emenike was a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner with Nigeria and also featured at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

However, after nine goals in 37 caps, he announced his retirement from the national team in October 2015. West Ham website
