TETFund spent N300b on Tertiary Institutions since 2009- Executive Chairman

Dr Musa Babayo, the Executive Chairman, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), on Saturday in Bauchi, said the fund spent over N300 billion on transformation of tertiary institutions in the country from 2009 to date.

He said the amount was spent on provision of infrastructure and training of lecturers with a view to prepositioning the education sector for better performance.

He added that more than 8,000 lecturers in tertiary institutions had been sent abroad to pursue Master’s and Doctorate degree programmes and that more than 800 beneficiaries had already completed their programmes, returned to the country and are currently adding value to education in Nigeria.

Alhaji Sani Suleiman, the Chairman, House Committee on Education, commended the Federal and Bauchi State Government for their initiative in the education sector and assured that the National Assembly would continue to contribute its quota toward positive transformation of the education sector.
