Two of Nigeria's biggest media house, The PUNCH and Premium Times are currently at war over ownership the recent letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to President Goodluck Jonathan. Premium Times is accusing The PUNCH of plagiarism.
Meanwhile, The Punch has refuted claims that it republished the Premium Times version of the letter. Part of the statement issued by the PUNCH read, "We strongly repudiate this unfounded claim and deplore the online news medium’s (Premium Times) recourse to hasty generalization in its bid to claim the moral high ground.
The PUNCH also added that an online news medium publishing a document first does not by any means suggest that it is the only medium (print or online) with the information at the point in time.
The Premium Times is yet to issue its latest reply to The PUNCH. Nigerian Bulletin will keep well informed on this media war.
