The National President of The Trade Union Congress (TUC), Mr. Bobboi Kaigama at a news conference on Friday in Abuja said that the union is in full support of the impending national dialogue, adding that Nigeria could only succeed despite its varied cultures, religions and ethnic nationalities by staying united.

"There is hope for this country and national conference is it. The TUC is in full support of it.’’

"Social dialogue is an important ingredient of nation building and Nigeria must use the opportunity to give the country a new lease of life.’’
He identified lack of unity as a major factor militating against the dream of the founding fathers of the country.

"As we cross over to 2014, politicians must reflect on the dynamics of true democracy and work toward the good life of the citizens.

"We have come a long way but we have longer way to go.’’

On incessant strikes by labour unions, he said government must learn to address threats of strikes before they become reality.

Kaigama called on government to quickly address the recent threat issued by unions in the oil sector.

"PENGASAN and NUPENG can cripple the nation’s economy if their threat is not addressed.’’
